On July 1, Ambassador Hartley visited Marseille in order to welcome the USS New York and attend a ceremony held in honor of the firefighters killed during the 9/11 attacks in New York. She and Consul General Quesada met the U.S. sailors and marines on board, as well as the French marins-pompiers, who were also invited to take part in the ceremony. Ambassador Hartley concluded her visit with a fascinating tour of the ship and its streets of New York memorabilia.
