A full house of over 1,000 gave a rousing standing ovation to the world premiere of the Brittany Symphony Orchestra’s performance of a new orchestral and jazz influenced work composed by noted French and American composers in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of D-Day and the Liberation of France. The OSB commissioned American composer Chris Brubeck, son of the jazz legend Dave Brubeck, and renowned French jazz musician Guillaume Saint James to compose the work in tribute to their fathers who participated in the June 1944 event, one as a soldier and another as a survivor of the Normandy occupation and a witness to the liberation. The project was supported by the U.S. Embassy.
