CDA Zeya Opens the Deauville American Film Festival

CDA Zeya traveled to Deauville to open the 40th annual Deauville American Film Festival with a speech in front of 2,000 local officials and international film industry representatives. In her remarks, CDA Zeya emphasized the role of cinema in strengthening ties between both cultures and paid tribute to the late Lauren Bacall and Robin Williams. The U.S. Embassy was also proud to support the “American Nights” program to make classic and lesser-known American films accessible to the public in local theaters during the festival. CDA Zeya highlighted the importance meetings between young, talented French audiences and American Hollywood celebrities which have helped foster mutual cultural understanding.
