Demonstration Alert – U.S. Embassy Paris, France (August 20, 2021)

Location:  Paris, multiple locations around the city.

Event:  Disruptive and potentially violent demonstrations against the health pass expected to take place on Saturday, August 21, with radicalized individuals from the far-right, far-left, and “ultra-jaunes” anticipated.  At this time the Embassy is aware of the following times and locations in Paris, and Embassy employees have been told to avoid these locations.  Additional protests are expected in other cities throughout France.

Saturday, August 21

  • 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. from Place de Fontenoy (Metro Ecole Militaire) towards Bercy
  • 1:30 p.m. from Place de la Bourse towards Place Edmond Rostand
  • 2:00 p.m. at Place de la République
  • 2:00 p.m. at Place du Chatelet
  • 2:30 p.m. at Place Denfert Rochereau
