Demonstration Alert – U.S. Embassy Paris, France (February 10, 2022)

Location:  Many locations throughout France, converging on Paris, and then heading to Belgium. 

Event:  Demonstration Convoi de la Liberté, converging on Paris from cities across France including Bayonne, Nice, Strasbourg, Cherbourg, Brest, and Toulouse. The trucks are expected to converge in Paris on February 11, with one call to gather at 5:00 p.m. at Place Denfert-Rochereau and a further call for trucks to arrive in Paris by 8:00 p.m.  The protest goal is to slow down traffic throughout Paris, including the Peripherique and A86, through the weekend, and then depart for Brussels via Lille on February 13, slowing traffic on the route.  The group intends to protest the vaccine pass and energy taxes.   

Actions to Take: 

  • Avoid the areas of the demonstrations 
  • Exercise caution if in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests 
  • Monitor local media for updates 
  • Be aware of your surroundings 
  • Keep a low profile
