Demonstration Alert – U.S. Embassy Paris, France (March 22, 2022)

Location:  Corsica, 2 protests, Ajaccio in front of the Prefecture and Bastia in front of the Prefecture.

Event:  Demonstrations expected to take place today, March 22, following the death of Yvan Colonna.

  • Ajaccio: Expected to start at 10:00 a.m.
  • Bastia: Expected to start at 5:00 p.m.

A large police presence has been deployed to Corsica.  Clashes are expected between protestors and police. U.S. government employees are being told to avoid the areas.

Actions to Take:

  • Avoid the areas of the demonstrations
  • Exercise caution if in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests
  • Monitor local media for updates
  • Be aware of your surroundings
  • Keep a low profile
