Location: Mediterranean Region (Vallauris, near Cannes) and Caluire-et-Cuire, near Lyon
Event: Locally acquired dengue virus infection has been reported in France. Six locally acquired cases of the disease were reported in the city of Vallauris, near Cannes, and one in Caluire-et-Cuire, near Lyon.
CDC has issued a Level 1 Travel Notice (https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/notices/watch/dengue-mediterranean). Travelers to areas in France where dengue has been reported can protect themselves against dengue infection by taking steps to prevent mosquito bites during the summer and early autumn.
