Sara Harriger joined the United States Department of State as a Foreign Service Officer in 2006. Her previous assignments have included a consular tour in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; an out-of-cone tour as a political officer in New Delhi, India; long-term Japanese language training followed by duties as an Assistant Cultural Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo, Japan; and a tour as the Public Diplomacy Officer at the U.S. Consulate in Erbil, Iraq. As of January 2016 she will serve as the U.S. Consul for Western France based in Rennes, Brittany. Sara graduated from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks in 2004. Originally from Alaska, Sara spent time in Belgium, France, and Francophone Canada as a student. She speaks French, Arabic, and Japanese.
