Today, I congratulate France on the celebration of Bastille Day.
France is one of our closest allies, with 230 years of friendship between our two nations. France’s support was instrumental in the success of the American Revolution, and those bonds hold strong to this day. Most recently, France hosted our President and accompanying delegation for the 75th anniversary of D-Day as well as the 100th anniversary to commemorate the end of World War I.
Our nations stand united to address myriad challenges from terrorism to rebuilding Notre Dame. Together, the United States and France are committed to ensuring that our nations and our freedoms remain strong and secure.
May this next year see continued cooperation and collaboration between our two great nations.
Vive la France, and God Bless America!
Michael Pompeo, Secretary of State
