On May 25, U.S. Ambassador to France, Jane D. Hartley, inaugurated two outdoor tennis courts completely renovated at the CMA Municipal Tennis Club of Aubervilliers, with Ms. Meriem Derkaoui, mayor of Aubervilliers. This renovation project initiated by the Ambassador, was made possible through the support of the city of Aubervilliers, the French Tennis Federation, BNP Paribas Group and the FedEx group. Champions Martina Navratilova and Mary Pierce and Tennis Channel were present at the event. On this occasion, the club received a tennis equipment donation from the French company Babolat. Through this project, the Ambassador was keen to stress the importance of sport as a unifying and educational tool to strengthen togetherness and self-fulfillment. As recently said the First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama, during a discussion on sport and youth:
“Investing in sport for our children is not something optional. This is what allows our company to remain united and healthy. This is an investment we make for the next generation.”
