Notarial Services for All Nationalities in Marseille

Notarial services are provided at the U.S. Consulates General in Marseille to U.S. and non-U.S. citizens with valid government issued identification.

    1. Under “Documents We Notarize” select type of document to be notarized;
    2. make an online appointment;
    3. make a personal appearance at the U.S. Consulate, and note that only the person(s) signing the document(s) who have made an appointment will be admitted to the Consular Section.

Important Information:  

  • Only certain documents for use in the United States and documents for use in France can be notarized at the Embassy and Consulates.
  • Please bring all unsigned documents, including the exhibits if applicable, in the correct order, ready for notarization.  If applicable, please bring instructions from the end user in the state of jurisdiction. If your documents are not ready for signature, you may be asked to make a new appointment.
  • DO NOT SIGN the document(s) prior to your interview with the notarizing officers.
  • Witnesses: notarizing officers and embassy staff are prohibited from acting as witnesses. If your document requires one or more signatures in Marseille, you need to bring  them (along with proof of identity). Submit the names of witness(s) or co-signer(s) in advance by email
  • Ensure that you understand the contents of the document(s).  The notarizing officer cannot explain them, assemble them for you, or provide legal advice. It can take about 90 minutes for the notarial process, depending on the circumstances of the case. You will receive your notarized documents on the day of the appointment.
  • The fee per Consular Seal is US $50 or the Euro equivalent.
  • We assume no responsibility for the safeguarding of clients’ personal notarial documents. No records are kept for this service.
  • The American Presence Posts do NOT provide this service.

Important Security Announcement

For security reasons, do not bring luggage including large backpacks, laptop computers, or large cameras.  Security guards will hold small tourist cameras and cell phones until your departure, but there is no storage available for other items — please do not bring them to the Consulate.
